Welcome to the new SBS 'Antique to Retro' blog page. This site is run in conjunction with our main website and will provide you with the latest up to date schedules for our next event in 2010.
Since our successful event of 2009 - and with your generous donations - we managed to raise $10'000 dollars for the Alzheimer's society in Nelson.
We have decided that the Alzheimer's charity would also be sponsored by us for the 2010 Antique to Retro event, which will be held at the same venue as last year - Founders Heritage park in Nelson - with the confirmed dates being the
23rd - 24th of January 2010.These dates coincide with the weekend of the
Nelson Kite Festival (Sunday), so this should be an incredibly busy and exciting weekend to be in Nelson.
We have also been working closely with Nelson city Council for our 2010 event and Antique to Retro are proud to inform you that our event has been earmarked as the opening event for Nelson's week long heritage week.
So in true heritage style, we have decided to make Antique to Retro more family friendly this year and will be running workshops from local artisans (who are continuing the crafts of the old trades) alongside the antique fair, as well as the ever popular vintage fashion show - which is guaranteed to be bigger and better than the previous ones! - and the vintage car parade / swap meet.
With a retro themed music evening - with open bar and nibbles - already planned for the Saturday evening, and many other events to be still confirmed, this is guaranteed to be a weekend to remember. With all the proceeds raised benefitting a charity who are helping the more needy community members of the Nelson and Tasman district.
Our trustee members are constantly updating the current schedule and as this happens - usually after each monthly meeting - we will update this blog page with the latest news.
We aim to mark our fifth year of 'Antique to Retro' as a resounding success and as such intend to make this a yearly event from which local charities can come to rely on for yearly donations.
Charities who without donations from organisations like ourselves, simply wouldn't exist.
If you are a business or individual who would like to either help us by way of sponsorship, or by simply offering help for the weekend of the event, we want to hear from you.
or, If you are a licensed Antique trader who would love to attend the event... then:
